(NC)—Hanging a TV on the wall is fairly easy to do for the average do-it-yourselfer. Here are the basics of a typical install project:
1. Select a location on the wall where you want your TV to go. You should always watch TV at eye level to avoid neck and eye strain.
2. Use a stud finder to locate wood studs. These are fairly inexpensive and come in handy for many home projects.
3. Hold the mount's wall plate up to the wall and pre-drill holes into the studs. If installing into concrete or brick, insert a concrete anchor into each hole so it's flush to the wall. You'll need an adapter kit if your wall has metal studs.
4. Attach the wall plate to the wall.
5. Align the mounting holes on the back of the TV with the holes on the wall mount. Attach.
Your installation may differ from these instructions, so consult your installation manual for the manufacturer's directions. If you haven't already purchased a mount for your TV, ask your local retailer to help you select an appropriate model or try the online Mount Finder tool from Sanus Systems (www.sanus.com).
